One-step conversion of crude oil to light olefins using a multi-zone reactor

With the demand for gasoline and diesel expected to decline in near future, crude-to-chemicals technologies have potential become most important processes petrochemical industry. This trend has triggered intense research maximize production of light olefins aromatics at expense fuels, which calls disruptive able transform crude oil chemicals an efficient environmentally friendly way. Here we propose a catalytic reactor concept consisting multi-zone fluidized bed that is perform several refining steps single vessel. configuration allows situ catalyst stripping regeneration, while incorporation silicon carbide confers it with improved physical, mechanical heat-transport properties. As result, this reactor–catalyst combination shown stable conversion untreated Arabian Light into yields per pass over 30 wt% minimum dry gas. The direct transformation can game changer refocusing petroleum industry production, but remains technically challenging. Here, authors introduce engineered cracking one-pot from oil.
